What do we really need?
You can see that when you subtract, not add.
AVA Catherside gives each item a carefully subtracted minimal design, starting from the pattern of an extra large tee-shirt.
AVA Catherside always has an environmental friendly approach in choosing fabrics.
2012 Spring/Summer collection uses Alcantara® (=artificial suede).
This fabric made in Italy has been certified as 100% carbon neutral by TUV SUD. CO2 emissions of the entire Alcantara® production from the raw material to the delivery of Alcantara® to the end customer is offset through renewable energy projects including wind power plant in Turkey, hydroelectric power plant in Taiwan, and geothermal power plant in Indonesia. Alcantara®, which also has Öko-Tex® Standard100 and SA8000 certifications, is produced in Nera Montoro only using renewable energy.
2012 Autumn/Winter collection is made of two different qualities of fine Italian virgin wool: the classic and plain felted wool, and the rough and thick Casentino felted cloth, with its characteristic curls on the surface that make it warm and waterproof. Casentino was used for monks tunics, to cover animals and worn by peasants back in the 14th century. To use Casentino wool can contribute to protect the traditional Italian craftsmanship.
All fabrics AVA Catherside use are made in Italy and cut individually by hand in their studio. Every piece is made in London.
