ajna only uses certified organic and sustainable textiles including organic cotton, hemp silk, peace silk, biodegradable viscose, bamboo, organic wool, Himalayan cashmere and indigenous alpaca.
Production takes place mostly in Peru, Bolivia, India by indigenous textile artisans and some pieces are made locally in New York and China.
ajna envisions a world of beauty, peace and serenity through the harmonious existence between human and the environment.
By creating a holistic socially conscious business model, ajna tries to inspire, nourish, stimulate and connect people involved in the process and product.
◆Designer◆
The founder as well as designer Beryl Man was born in Hong Kong. She completed the Master's degree for knitwear fashion design at the Royal College of Art in London. Beryl was then invited by Donna Karan and moved to New York.
After working for Hussein Chalayan for TSE Cashmere and Calvin Klein menswear and womenswear collections, Beryl returned to Donna Karan as the knitwear design director for womenswear.
And in 2008, ajna was born.
Beryl is also the owner of the Essence Studio Textiles, which is the knitwear consulting company. Cliants include Diane von Furstenberg, Nathan Jenden, and Jill Stuart.
